战马和磨坊主
A chargre, feeling the infirmities of age, was sent to work in a mill instead of going out to battle.
一匹年老体衰的战马被送去磨坊，而非战场。
But when he was compelled to grind instead of serving in the wars, he bewailed his change of fortune and called to mind his former state, saying：
当他被逼碾磨，而不是上战场服役的时候，他哀叹自己命运的变换，回想起自己先前的状态，说道：
"Ah!Miller, I had indeed to go campaigning before, but I was bar bed from counter to tail, and a man went along to groom me; and now I cannot understand what ailed me to prefer the mill before the battle."
"我曾经的确作战辛苦，但是我很受人尊敬，还有专人为我洗刷、喂草；如今我真是不明白到底是什么让我宁愿碾磨而不上战场。”
"Forbear," said the Miller to him, "harping on what was of yore, for it is the common lot of mortals to sustain the ups and downs of fortune."
磨场主说：“不要老是对过去念念不忘，人生起起伏伏本是是凡人的普遍命运。”
